Pandora charging stations are in the process of manufacturing for commercial use. As it is known, our company started to develop a new charging stations production line for electric cars, from the end of 2020. In December of this year we will release the first series of commercial use.

Why are we so late? After all, one would think, the charging units are not so difficult to build anyway.
There are many reasons for this. The first, as it is widely known, is that there is a difficulty in finding the components. The problem is not the cost or delivery time which cannot be predicted, but the ability to buy clusters of parts! But beyond that, the main reason for this delay is that we wanted to understand this technology in depth and become the best in the field. At the same time, in an effort to solve the problems in the supply of components, we began to study the protocols of exchange between charging units and electric vehicles, the protocols of external interactions between stations, operators and consumers. We started to develop our own controls and models, because the cost in relation to the functionality it offers seemed to us unreasonably high.

Many things were new to us, because we had hardly dealt with high-voltage electronics in the past, although we used our experience to create automation in the management of LED lamps. We studied the switching between products and cables, because the high current loads of hundreds of amperes as 400 and 800 volts is a task with great responsibility, especially considering that these parts of the system will be used by people which are unprepared with unprotected hands on the road, outdoors and in difficult weather conditions. But our main focus is on the power supply approach – we started developing our own AC / DC transformers for 20 and 50 kW. Although it is less than six months from the completion of the first parts by us, our stations will continue to import reliable quality products, and parallel to that we will make our own parts. Successful experiments are already underway! And excellent products will be created, with modern construction parts and the best performance.

We are trying to understand the issue of the interaction between electric vehicles, charging stations and their owners. We understand the specificities of the interests of operators and owners of electrical infrastructure in our own way, drawing on our experience. There are already more than a dozen electric vehicles in our facilities that serve the employees of our company, which helps a great deal to understand the position of the users much better when we develop our own approaches. We are currently preparing a production line with DC stations, ChaDeMo and CCS2 connectors-combinations with a capacity of up to 20kW for various indoor parking spaces and for private use in homes. Even these stations have unusual functionality. There are already many features that make our stations different from others. As Pandora always does!

One of the shocking differences is the ability to automatically detect the change in load in the home itself, so when the electric vehicle is in charging mode, it cannot exceed the higher interconnection energy of the household. Indeed, often the electricity for the interconnection of a house with electricity rarely exceeds 15kW, which means that the electric stove, iron and kettle are on, only 5-7kW can be used safely in charging electric cars. But the specific consumption of the house can change and the Pandora station is able to communicate with the electric car to change the charging energy, to use the remaining current, to speed up the process as much as possible.

The display of information shows the modes of operation and includes the process of interaction with the charging station for the user. The easy-to-use management interface displays the battery status, charging status of the electric vehicle and the time remaining to achieve the optimal charging status. Also, the user has access to the charging history of the electric vehicle and the household power consumption. By ensuring the highest safety standards, Pandora charging units ensure that the strength of the insulation is carefully monitored to prevent accidents due to high voltages. The station is also equipped with an emergency button, where it is connected to the controller, but regardless of that, it is disconnected directly from the mains. As always, the design and thermal efficiency have been developed by our engineers. In addition, all its construction parts have been produced by our facilities, in the same part where the body and the components for the construction of the LED lamps have been produced

20kW and 50-60kW stations are under construction and even the working prototype of the 200kW station with cables and connectors with water cooling is under construction. So far only small models have been prepared for the production line. There are a lot of prospect in our new engagement because we have a lot of experience in car electronics and from our global challenges that we encountered. We gained the knowledge of low energy consumption in large scale LED projects of hundreds of thousands of light bulbs. This gives us a great confidence in our new endeavour. And we have no doubt that private users of electric vehicles will be convinced of this very soon, after the release of the first product line, other models for the production line are planned, including those intended for private use.
