KEYLESS ENTRY

Keyless Entry / Start is a pre-installed system in most of the luxury and high-class car models. It is an electronic lock that controls the access to the vehicle, allowing the owner to get in the car and start the engine without the traditional factory key. The system works with an electronic key on the keychain of the owner, that opens the door and starts the car, offering a unique experience of driving.

The car signals to a distance of 2 meters around it and if the wireless key is in that range it activates the door’s handle. If all conditions (of communication) between the car and the wireless key are met, the car unlocks. The same way, the car turns on and starts without the use of the traditional factory key.

Still, Keyless Entry has a weakness that the thieves take advantage of, in order to control the car. They use the key of the owner while the car is parked, with a method called “Relay” that we will describe right below.

RELAY METHOD

In “Relay” stealing method usually there are two thieves using a specific electronic device. The first one stands by the car using a device of signal re-transmission, while the second one stands quite close to your house, your office or near you holding a second device. That second device is re-transmitting the signal to the first…

The wireless key in your house, in your office or on your keychain receives the car’s signal and answers, allowing the entrance to the car and starting the engine. In that way the thieves steal the car using your key, while you are at your house, at your office or while you do your shopping.

PANDORA’S “PROHIBIT DISARM”

The new generation Can-Bus alarms will not protect you from the Relay method since they are connected with your car’s key. If the thief is equipped with the device that multiplies the key’s range, then he will also disable the alarm.

Pandora’s alarms use different technology combinations creating different levels of protection. For the Relay method the “Prohibit Disarm” function communicates with your ID-Tag, so if the thieves cheat the car’s system, they cannot cheat the anti-theft. If your ID-Tag is with you then the mechanism will not be disarmed.

When the door opens, the alarm will ring, locking the car and disallowing the engine’s start.

With 15 years of experience in car security systems Pandora presents state-of-the-art alarms, with combining technologies, unpredictable that cannot be copied. In that way the company provides the strongest protection from the latest and most contemporary stealing techniques.
